In Excel concatenation joins data from multiple cells together to display in a single cell.Whilst good table design requires data to be recorded in its smallest meaningful components, it is often more user friendly to display data components joined in spreadsheets and Pivot Tables etc.
In a Power Pivot Data Model this concatenated data can then also be applied to new columns and added to a PivotTable.
Data in any columns removed from a Data Model will automatically be removed from a Pivot Table.
