In Power Pivot you can create calculated columns to add new data to tables. Calculated columns use a Data Analysis Expression (DAX) formula and can be applied in PivotTables, PivotCharts and reports.
A DAX is a formula language allowing you to define custom calculations for Calculated Columns in a Data Model.
DAX includes functions similar to those used in Excel formulas and additional functions designed to work with relational data.
